Human Resource Management System (HRMS)
The terms human resource management system (HRMS) and human resource information system (HRIS) are often used interchangeably and while they do share similarities, both are essentially software that allow HR activities and processes to occur electronically, there are some differences in their capabilities.
HRMS software providers typically cover the same elements as an HRIS but because the HRMS business covers such a wide range of employee size and functional requirements, not all HRMS providers have a progressive Talent Management component included in their offering.
Uses for a HRMS
HRMS software providers typically cover the same elements as an HRIS, namely:
recruiting/ATS (Applicant Tracking System)
core human resources
absence management
compensation management
training and development
workflow tracking and management
self-service (candidate/employee/manager)
reporting
However, the two characteristics of any true HRMS are:
payroll
time & labor management (TLM)
