Qualified Life Event
A qualified life event is an event that could make you eligible for a special enrollment period in terms of benefits. These include but are not limited to:

Loss of health insurance: job-based, COBRA coverage, individual coverage self-purchased, no longer eligible for Medicaid, Medicare, or CHIP, and or coverage through a family member.

Changes in a household: marriage (including common law), having a baby, adopting a child, or placing a foster child, divorce or legal separation, or the death of a person on the insurance policy.

Changes in residence: moving to a new home in a new zip code or county, moving to the US from a different country or US territory, moving to/from the pace you attend school (students), moving to or from the place you live and work (seasonal workers), or moving from a shelter or other transitional housing.

Other qualifying changes include: leaving incarceration, becoming a US citizen, gaining membership to a federally recognized tribe, or stating/ending service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member.
